What is a food cupboard?
Everybody should have access to good food. Everybody values community. The St. Michael’s Food Cupboard is all about dignity, choice and hope. The St. Michael’s Food Cupboard stocks a range of tinned food, fresh fruit and veg and long-life packaged food such as rice, pasta and cereal.
How much does it cost?
Parents pay a small fee of £5 each time they access the Food Cupboard, and in return can choose groceries worth many times more.
When can I access the Food Cupboard?
The Food Cupboard is open each Tuesday and Friday morning from 9:00am to 10:30am. To access the Food Cupboard, please visit the main school office.
How many items can I choose?
There are three categories of food items:
- Diamonds - most food items are classified as diamonds. These tend to be staple food items such as tinned vegetables, pasta, rice and sauces.
- Hearts - the most expensive items are classified as hearts. These items usually include meat and branded food items.
- Free - these items might be nearing their use by date or we might have large quantities of them.
For the cost of £5, shoppers can choose 10 x diamonds, 3 x hearts and as many free items as they need. On average, the cost of each shop should be close to £15.
